Wayfinder Closed Beta Signup, Schedule, And FAQ

Wayfinder is the upcoming MMO developed by Airship Syndicate and published by Digital Extremes. The game was first announced on The Game Awards and will go into Early Access in 2023 with some beta tests before. Read Gloomborn’s deep dive to learn more about Wayfinder.

In this Wayfinder Closed Beta FAQ, you’ll find all details and schedules for the upcoming beta tests.

Wayfinder Beta Schedule

There are multiple beta tests planned for Wayfinder. So far there were only Closed Beta Tests. They had a limited amount of invites and all content is under NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement).

  1. December 13 - 19, 2022: Closed Playtest 1 on PC under NDA.
  2. January 17 - 23, 2023: Closed Playtest 2 on PC & PS5 under NDA.
  3. February 28 - March 06, 2023: Closed Beta Test on PC, PS5, and PS4 under NDA.
  4. May 24, 2023: The Global Closed Beta Test.
  5. Summer 2023: Early Access Release on PC, PS4, and PS5.
  6. Late 2023: Full release.

Wayfinder Closed Beta Tests

The first Closed Playtest in Wayfinder started on December 13 in 2022. The first playtest was only available on PC via Steam. All content of this beta test was under NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement).

The second playtest of Wayfinder was live from January 17 to January 23 in 2023. On January 19 there were additional invites for PlayStation 5 players. This Closed Beta Test was still under NDA.

A third Closed Beta Test was active from February 28 to March 6. This time, the Wayfinder was available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. They were sending out 70,000 invites for this beta. At the end of the Beta, it was announced, that there will be at least one more Beta Test before the Early Access release in May.

Update: on April 14, the last Closed Beta Test was moved from April to May. The Early Access release will be delayed but there is no date announced yet.

Wayfinder Early Access Release

The Early Access release of Wayfinder was planned for May 2023. But what does Early Access for Wayfinder mean?

Wayfinder Founders Packs

There will be multiple Founders Packs available for Wayfinder. By buying one of the Founders Packs players will be able to play Wayfinder in Early Access. Additionally, the Founders Packs will contain unique items like pets, mounts, and cosmetics. The items will only be available by purchasing the Founders Packs and they will not be obtainable outside of the Founders Pack.

Wayfinder Release

The full release of Wayfinder is planned for late 2023. Wayfinder will be free-2-play from this point on and will be available on PC and consoles.

Wayfinder Beta Signup

To signup for the beta tests of Wayfinder you need to register on the official website: https://www.playwayfinder.com/betasignup . After signing up you’ll receive a confirmation mail.

If you didn’t get the confirmation email for your Wayfinder signup, check your spam folder or the “Promotions” category (if you’re using Gmail).

Invites will be sent out per email when the beta starts.

Will Progress Be Wiped After The Beta?

Every progress player achieved in one of the Beta Tests of Wayfinder will be wiped after the test ends.

There could be an exception from Playtest #1 to Playtest #2. Both tests use the same build of Wayfinder and the community team indicated that there is a chance that there is no wipe before the January test.

Do Invites Carry Over To The Next Test?

Everyone that was invited to the Closed Beta Test in December, will automatically have access to January’s Playtest. This was officially confirmed multiple times.

Everyone that has already signed up for the Closed Beta and didn’t get in, does not need to sign up again. Every Signup is still in the pool and has a chance to get an invite to the next Closed Beta Test of Wayfinder.

Wayfinder Beta Platforms

The first beta test in December was exclusively on Steam for PC. The following beta tests will be on PC and PlayStation 5.

PlayStation 4 players will need to wait for the Early Access release to play.
